alicia lynn carrier.

we were talking about it today, and I've known alice for about 12 trillion years by now. she's loud. she's honest. she's a good person. she's a bit crazy. she tells your secrets unless you tell her they're secrets, for realsies. if you wrote 100 ways to describe alice, and then you wrote 100 ways to describe me, I'm sure at least 70 of the descriptions for each would be comparable. we fight sometimes, but are always good about forgiving each other, and I think a lot of that has to do with us understanding each other. I mean, I don't think I'd call out a friend for a crush they have on another friend's wife in front of both that friend AND his wife, but hey, I've at least mostly let that one go. also, if you like this blog, I owe it all to alicia. were it not for her lending me a camera, we wouldn't be here. were it not for her explaining to me that c6 developed as c41 was the jam, we wouldn't be here. were it not for her taking a trillion beautiful pictures, especially her work with brighid, I wouldn't have had the drive to try and affect other people with photography, the way that she affected me. so. yeah. oh, and do I think this is the best picture I could take of alice? nope. but I've been meaning to get all sentimental for a while now, and I'm tired of putting it off. and it's not a bad picture or anything.

alicia and jason own a home (part 1)

so double and alice bought a house. I took lots of pictures of it. I'm sure I'll take lots more in the years and years and years to follow. their porch, with the sunset behind it, is magical to the billionth power. eli is too.

ha. whoops.

now ex-roommate jason gave me a tri-pod for my SLR. I was fucking with it, right after he gave it to me, and apparently took a sweet crotch shot. the angles came out pretty alright for an accident. too bad those aren't intentionally some brand of "distressed" jeans, this could be an advertisement.

happy valley (a continuing exploration sept part 2)

more with the SLR in beautiful happy vally. I really ought to find out the name of this bluff that I was standing on when I took these. overlooking both clackamas and happy valley, it's a good place to be. I'm sure it'll suck when they get the money to finish building the houses they're putting on it, but so far so good.

mike and erin's garage, a place of chilling with friends.

a couple of saturdays ago, it was taylor's birthday. he had the swine flu, so didn't do much. but miguel, durfey, and I went by to say hi. then we retreated to erin and durfey's garage, and had an awesome night, drinking beers and broing down. I refused to leave the comfort of my chair, so all the photos are from there. a couple of rad ones, though I couldn't get there dog to settle down for me to take his picture without blur, so that's a bummer. otherwise, awesomeness.

hungry tiger, too.

I woke up, a couple of sundays ago, feeling a bit down. maybe it was the excessive partying the night before, who knows. but I wanted two things: breakfast, and good company. decided to go to hungry tiger too, partially because it just seemed like a great idea, and partially because arwyn was (supposed to be) working. I called up maggie, because she's some of the best company I've ever met. and so there we are. hungry tiger too, good coffee, good company, and horrible pancakes (not pictured). I guess I should have stuck with the mac and cheese, delectable. pancakes. not so much.

happy valley (a continuing exploration sept part 1)

I love taking pictures in happy valley. I took a bunch there recently, here's the first one, SLR, from a hill. there will be more a commin'.

jesse cutter revisited:

jesse cutter.

I met this kid years ago, broken down on the side of the road in virginia, he from lullville and me from port land, and his charm shined through right off the bat. I mean, there was probably grease all over it, so maybe "shined" isn't the right word, but I'm sure you know what I mean. somehow, a couple of years later, we conned him into packing up all his tools and broken motorbikes, and dragging it all out to portland. and he hasn't taken off that bandanna since. hell, I even think he had it on before he left for the trek out here. hell of a good dude, with a speech pattern and a laugh that warms yer soul.

scooter races, part two, chinon:

man, this camera did NOT do well. unless my desire was to have blurry colors across an empty track, or unless the scooter kids were going 12 million miles an hour the whole time. ah, well. Some nice shots:

scooter races, part one, special moments:

went to the scooter races. there were motorcycles there too, so we brought eva in order to show her even more american redneckery. shot with the special moments camera, so there's some good shots, but if I really wanted to do it right, I'd cheat, scan at high res, zoom in, recrop, that sort of thing. but here's the ones that came out alright without all that whatnot. jesse's in there somewhere.

so what do you do when you've just made a german shoot guns?

take her to get a bowl full of booze, naturally. welcome to america!
